While Kirkland & Ellis’ Saudi Arabia office was months in the works, the law firm officially announced the new location Monday, with leaders there calling it “one of the most dynamic and fast-paced markets in the world.” Kirkland has become one of the latest Big Law firms to officially launch in Saudi Arabia, attracted to M&A and capital markets business in the region.

The highest-grossing law firm in the world on Monday announced its arrival in Riyadh, saying in a statement that its 20th office—which consists of lateral partners from White & Case and Latham & Watkins—will also serve as a headquarters in the region. The office will be led by Kamran Bajwa, an existing Kirkland corporate partner with experience in complex and international matters in the Middle East and emerging markets who was previously based in Chicago.
