The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s decision last month to ban Juul’s electronic cigarettes forced lawyers to scramble for a new bellwether trial plan in the multidistrict litigation.
On July 15, U.S. District Judge William Orrick of the Northern District of California approved a new plan that would replace a Tennessee teenager’s addiction case with a public nuisance lawsuit filed by the San Francisco Unified School District.
