With Paul Hastings chair Frank Lopez calling expansion in Northern California a strategic priority, the law firm said it has landed a group of 12 private equity and capital markets attorneys from Goodwin Procter and Cooley. The group, which includes three partners and one who will be made partner in the move, will be based in Palo Alto.

Scott Joachim, formerly of Goodwin, will become global vice chair of Paul Hastings’ private equity practice, the firm said Monday. He is joined by two private equity attorneys from his team there. David Ambler, a capital markets partner, joins from Cooley.
