Latham & Watkins will soon be shuttering its Shanghai outfit, established almost two decades ago, according to people close to the situation.

The firm currently has 10 lawyers in Shanghai, led by corporate partner Rowland Cheng. According to a person who works at Latham, all of its Shanghai personnel have been offered the opportunity to relocate to its Beijing office, where the firm has five other lawyers including investigations and dispute resolution partner Hui Xu.
