Is it possible to balance profits and culture? To do good for others while doing good for the organization? While The American Lawyer tracks firms’ achievements throughout the year across several individual metrics that measure elements of the whole, our annual A-List ranking aims to highlight those firms that are proving doing well for multiple stakeholders can lead to true success.

The A-List score ranks firms based on their average score across five key metrics, calculated throughout the year in various other surveys by ALM. These metrics are revenue per lawyer, associate satisfaction, diversity, pro bono and the percentage of female equity partners. Revenue and pro bono data are double weighted. Additional data and other A-List rankings can be found at Law.com Compass. An analysis of the top-ranked firms can be found here.
