The once-sacred relationship between a corporate legal department and its trusted law firm appears more vulnerable than ever.

As corporate and tech practices continue to flourish and more white-shoe law firms enter the lateral partner market, a partner’s ability to move entrenched business between law firms isn’t as challenging as it used to be, legal recruiters say. Indeed, some general counsel say they prefer to move with a partner or team, rather than retrain outside counsel on their business.
