In our annual survey for the Pro Bono Scorecard, we seek to quantify the pro bono contributions of the Am Law 200 while also telling the stories of the many causes they supported with their work. In 2020, as the pandemic, racial justice protests and a contentious election coincided, the legal industry’s largest firms poured themselves into pro bono, resulting in an uptick in hours worked and a seemingly endless list of meaningful matters handled.
In this year’s report, we analyze the numbers for domestic and international pro bono work and reflect on the circumstances that created so much need for legal assistance. We also look forward to what comes next for the pro bono community and how the industry will seek to continue meeting the increased demand for representation.
