In many ways, 2021 will be the year of the associate.

Last year was tumultuous, to say the least. Lateral movement dropped precipitously as partners and associates alike clung to their jobs. In March, abrupt closures and stay-at-home orders left law firms scrambling to set up remote work systems and offices. The economy sputtered and law firm leaders made grim predictions, slashing partner draws and laying off staff and attorneys alike.
