By any measure, Michael Clinch had a rough year.

The pandemic forced his entire class at the University of Miami Law School online in March. Worried about the virus, many of the Berger Singerman associate’s wedding guests backed out of attending his wedding that same month. The newlywed’s honeymoon, scheduled immediately after the original date for the July bar exam, had to be canceled when the exam was pushed to August. (Following a technical catastrophe, the exam was again rescheduled just two days before students were set to take it.)
