Showtime Arabia and The Orbit Group have agreed to merge in a $2 billion deal announced earlier this week, which will create the largest pay TV company in the Middle East and North Africa. Weil, Gotshal & Manges, which opened its first office in the Middle East this January in Dubai, advised Showtime on the deal.

M&A partners Mark Soundy and Peter King and associates Natalie Gray, Alicia Speake and Elizabeth Todd handled the transaction for the firm. (Showtime is a subsidiary of Kuwaiti investment company Kipco, a longtime Weil client that launched the station in 1996 as part of a joint venture with Viacom.)
