The Utah Supreme Court reversed a $450,000 medical malpractice award this week after determining that the plaintiff failed to provide evidence showing her mother experienced pain, suffering or inconvenience during the period of the doctors’ negligence and her death.

Jenafer Meeks first filed suit against her mother’s doctors, Dr. Wei Peng and Dr. Christina G. Richards, individually and on behalf of the estate and heirs, alleging they did not properly inform her or her siblings of her mother’s condition before allowing them to request that her care be withdrawn.
