The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit affirmed the granting of summary judgment to Vera Bradley, concluding that a fiduciary relationship did not exist between the company and Vesi Inc., which had formally partnered to sell handbags and apparel.

According to the Nov. 9 opinion, authored by Sixth Circuit Judge John K. Bush, the case concerned an alleged breach of fiduciary duty based on a claimed de facto fiduciary relationship under Ohio law, leaving the court to determine whether a fiduciary relationship existed between Vesi and Vera Bradley.
