3M has agreed to pay more than $6 billion to settle hundreds of thousands of lawsuits brought over its dual-ended combat earplugs.

The deal, announced on Tuesday, settles one of the largest mass torts facing 3M, which months earlier agreed to pay $12.5 billion to resolve claims by 6,000 water providers over drinking water contaminated by perfluoralkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS.
