A federal judge in Pennsylvania vacated a $25 million compensatory damages award in favor of the plaintiffs in a contract dispute, finding that an expert’s calculations weren’t reasonably based in the trial record.

In a July 26 opinion, U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania vacated $25 million awarded to Plan Management due to expert Michael Molder’s failure to provide a sufficient factual basis for the numbers he relied on at trial. Molder calculated that Plan Management suffered a loss in profits totaling to approximately $24.5 million due to Broadridge Investor Communication Solutions Inc.’s alleged breach of contract.
