A group of oil companies, including Chevron Corp., Sunoco and Exxon Mobil, was dealt a setback July 7 after a federal appeals panel affirmed a district court order remanding two climate-related claims to Hawaii’s state court.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit did not rule on the merits of the claims, but did unanimously hold that the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii did not have jurisdiction over the litigation.
