Rising U.S. regulatory hurdles and a U.S.-China trade war have prompted Chinese investors to pull back from North America and pour money into Europe in the first half of this year, according to a report by Baker McKenzie and market research firm Rhodium Group.

During the six months ended June 30, Chinese companies announced they had made $22 billion worth of investments in Europe—nine times the amount they made in North America in the same period.
