Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton may be leading the pack in lawyer campaign donations, while presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s campaign has shelled out the most in legal fees. But for now, the Libertarian Party is running the only presidential campaign with a current Am Law 100 lawyer on the ticket.
At its national convention last week in Orlando, Florida, the Libertarian Party selected former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld—a partner at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo and principal with the firm’s government relations arm ML Strategies LLC—to serve as its vice presidential candidate. Weld, who had long identified as a Republican before this year, will run on a ticket led by Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson, a former Republican governor of New Mexico.
