Law firms committed to a groundbreaking social mobility initiative in the United Kingdom are teaching important skills to disadvantaged students, but they’re also failing their pledge to maintain contact with participants after their work placements have ended, according to a new report.

The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER), an independent U.K. organization, surveyed 213 former participants in the PRIME initiative, a 5-year-old program that provides students from disadvantaged backgrounds with work experience at almost 90 U.K., U.S. and international law firms.
