Forbes unveiled its annual tally of the 400 wealthiest Americans this week and two former lawyers broke into the exclusive ranks. As we’ve done in the past, The Am Law Daily once again delved into the Forbes list to identify billionaires with legal backgrounds.

The cutoff for this year’s list was $1.7 billion, meaning that Joe Jamail Jr., the legendary Texas lawyer and so-called King of Torts, was among those slipping off the Forbes 400. Jamail, whose net worth Forbes pegs at a scant $1.65 billion, has long been the country’s richest practicing lawyer.
