After a few months of steady partner losses, K&L Gates got September started by hiring a high-profile IP partner from Paul Hastings in California. This week K&L Gates brought on tax partner GILES BAVISTER in London from King & Wood Mallesons, a firm he joined in 2013 as result of its merger with SJ Berwin.

Bavister, the third partner-level lateral hire by K&L Gates in London this year, represents a range of real estate and energy clients on corporate tax matters. K&L Gates also added restructuring and insolvency special counsel LEONARD MCCARTHY in Sydney, where local legal publication Lawyers Weekly reports he was a partner at independent Australian firm Henry Davis York. (K&L Gates expanded Down Under through its 2012 tie-up with Middletons.)
