Securities litigator John “Sean” Coffey has worn a number of hats, whether it’s running for attorney general of New York, founding a now-defunct litigation finance business or serving as managing partner of plaintiffs firm Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossmann.
Now, Coffey finds himself on the other side of the securities bar, as a partner at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel in New York focused largely on defense work. It’s been nearly two years since Coffey joined the firm in November 2013, a move that followed his taking part in the defense of Fabrice Tourre, a former Goldman Sachs trader found liable on six counts of civil securities fraud two years ago.
