Gregory Lawrence, the former co-head of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft’s renewables practice and head of its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission group, has joined Greenberg Traurig as a partner in Boston and Washington, D.C.

Cadwalader hired Lawrence as part of a high-profile nine-partner energy and commodities team it recruited from McDermott Will & Emery in early 2011, some of whom opened the storied Wall Street firm’s Houston office. Earlier this year, Sidley Austin snagged three of Lawrence’s former McDermott and Cadwalader colleagues in partners Karen Dewis, Kenneth Irvin and Daryl Rice.
