Fresh off handling two big broadcast rights deals earlier this month for a pair of longtime sports industry clients, Covington & Burling got a mixed bag of legal news Thursday with a U.K. twist.

While the firm saw two of its top litigators handling Deepwater Horizon-related oil spill work for London-based petroleum giant BP depart for Kirkland & Ellis, Covington was also tapped by wireless technology company Qualcomm to advise on its proposed $2.5 billion buy of CSR, a British chipmaker known for its Bluetooth technology.
