Jiro Murase, longtime Bingham McCutchen partner and a top U.S.-Japan transactions lawyer, died in New York on Aug. 5. He was 86.

Murase, a native New Yorker, was a founding member of Marks & Murase, which launched in 1971 and built a leading practice advising Japanese companies on their investments into the U.S. and Europe, as well as foreign corporate clients entering Japan. The firm eventually merged with the former Bingham Dana & Gould, based in Boston, in 1997.
