Less than a month after launching in the European Union’s de facto capital, Sullivan & Cromwell has boosted its fledgling Brussels office with the hire of the European Commission’s former deputy director-general for competition, the firm announced Wednesday.

Götz Drauz, an EU and German antitrust law expert at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, has joined the New York-based firm as of counsel. Drauz also previously headed the Merger Task Force at the European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union.
