While lawyers in the U.S. joined the rest of the country in devouring millions of Thanksgiving turkeys last week, a quartet of U.K. law firms were coming together to create a pair of quarter-billion pound businesses.

National personal injury firm Irwin Mitchell, the U.K.’s 19th-largest law firm by revenue, and West Sussex-based private client firm Thomas Eggar have already exchanged contracts on their merger, while regional U.K. firm Addleshaw Goddard is in advanced talks with leading Scottish practice Maclay Murray & Spens, according to reports in the U.K. legal press.
