K&L Gates’ recent hiring spree continued this week, even as it completed the closure of its office in Spokane, Washington, an outpost the firm opened in 1980.

In early July, K&L Gates confirmed that it would exit Spokane by year’s end, citing a lack of local synergies with the firm’s growing global platform. This month, 30-year-old Spokane firm Workland & Witherspoon hired K&L Gates public finance and municipal law partners LAURA MCALOON and BRIAN WERST in Spokane, while also adding litigation associate-turned-partner THADDEUS O’SULLIVAN.
