Yitzhak “Isaac” Herzog comes from one of Israel’s most powerful political families—one likened to the Kennedys—but the former senior partner at leading local law firm Herzog Fox & Ne’eman couldn’t unseat Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu as the country’s prime minister in Tuesday’s elections.

Despite initial reports of a Dewey vs. Truman-style upset, a race that was once too close to call ended with a decisive victory for Netanyahu’s Likud Party, ushering in a fourth term as prime minister for the leader whose appearance before Congress earlier this month caused much political consternation on this side of the Atlantic.
