Bingham McCutchen, fresh off adding two new energy lawyers to its ranks despite the loss of more than 100 partners over the past 18 months, is entering the final stage of merger talks with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

The Am Law Daily has learned that the partnership at Morgan Lewis is not expected to vote on a merger until at least the third week of October. Morgan Lewis’ fiscal year closes on Oct. 1, the same day that former litigation practice head and chairman-elect Jami McKeon officially assumes leadership of the 1,363-lawyer firm.
