Alleging their passports were illegally confiscated and they were forced to live in substandard conditions without needed medical care, translators and interpreters who worked with the U.S. military in Kuwait have asked a Virginia federal judge to certify their proposed class action against the contractor that hired them.

Alfred Zaklit and two other named plaintiffs, on behalf of about 117 other U.S. linguists employed by Global Linguistics Solutions, filed a motion on Aug. 29 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia requesting certification of their class claims of false imprisonment and fraud by omission in violation of Virginia law.
