Lowenstein Sandler has scooped up Shavar Jeffries, the runner-up in Newark’s mayoral election earlier this year and a longtime law professor, to join its litigation department.

Jeffries is set to join the firm as a partner as of Aug. 25. He will represent private-sector clients in criminal and civil litigation, while continuing to work on public-interest matters, which have long been his focus, though he does have large-firm experience as well.
