Visually impaired film fans in California have reached a $1.2 million class action settlement with video rental company Redbox, which has agreed to make its self-service kiosks more accessible to the legally blind.

Under the terms of the proposed settlement, visually impaired customers who file claims will be eligible for between $1,000 and $4,000 each in damages, and Redbox Automated Retail, LLC, will modify its kiosks to provide tactile keyboards, headphone jacks and “text-to-speech” technology that will read aloud the directions for choosing and renting videos.
