The Securities and Exchange Commission said June 30 it is hiring two new judges and three new law clerks for its Office of Administrative Law Judges, nearly doubling the size of the office.

James Grimes, who spent the past 13 years working as a litigator for the U.S. Justice Department, was appointed an administrative law judge, effective June 30. The second administrative law judge, whom the SEC did not identify, is expected to begin duties in August.
