The National Football League and a group of retired players have agreed to a revised settlement in the concussion injury litigation that would not place any cap on the damages available to players, the parties jointly announced Wednesday.

The revised settlement comes after the parties’ initial $765 million proposed accord was denied preliminary approval by U.S. District Judge Anita B. Brody of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania over her concerns that all of the former players who would qualify for settlement money due to various types of brain injuries sustained while they played in the NFL would not actually be able to collect from the fund.
