Our selection process for Georgia’s judges is under heavy fire from some who claim that recent judicial appointments lack sufficient diversity. Much of this criticism is focused on President Obama’s current nominees to the federal bench—each of whom I enthusiastically support.

But during a panel on which I presented at the recent annual meeting of the State Bar of Georgia, several other panelists had harsh words for the people involved in the state judicial appointment process as well (“Lawyers blast JNC for lack of diversity,” Daily Report, June 10).
