The Los Angeles Lakers are making some changes to the bench. The NBA team has promoted Jim Perzik to senior vice president of legal affairs and secretary and hired Dan Grigsby to take his place as general counsel.
“Having worked with Dan as our outside legal representative for over 30 years, we’re very familiar and comfortable with him, and have the highest regard for him as both an attorney and person,” said team president Jeanie Buss, in a statement. Grigsby joins the Lakers from Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell, where he was a partner and chairman of the National Sports Law Group. He’s worked extensively as outside counsel for the team, while at that firm and others, including Arnold & Porter, Blanc Williams Johnston & Kronstadt, Nossaman, Guthner, Knox & Elliott and Fine, Perzik & Friedman. He holds a bachelor’s degree from UCLA in political science and a law degree from Whittier College School of Law.
