In January, Matthew Lepore took
over as general counsel of the North American affiliate of BASF SE, the world’s largest chemical company (headquartered in Germany). Lepore was most recently corporate secretary and chief governance counsel at Pfizer Inc., but he doesn’t seem to regret trading pharmaceuticals for chemicals and plastics.

“I think my experience at Pfizer will help at an innovative science-based company like BASF,” he says. As head of the in-house department at BASF’s largest affiliate, and the second-biggest chemical company in the United States, Lepore is working out of its offices in Florham Park, N.J. He replaced David Stryker, now GC at Huntsman Corporation.
