Senate Vote Ends Feud Over Ninth Circuit Seat

The Senate today is expected to fill the longest judicial vacancy in the federal courts with a vote that could end nine years of quarreling over a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

What's being said

  • Veetz...

Well it is about time that the Senate finally put someone on that 9th Circuit who has a middle of the road method of making decisions. Too many of the rest of the panel consist of one sided decision makers.

  • Risch and Crapo certainly don‘t want the likely forthcoming case of the fraud by for-profit prison operator Corrections Corporation of America to be heard by a Republican judge in their state. The FBI is investigating it at this time, as well as in Colorado, where Idaho has exported prisoners. The governor and many legislators have been thoroughly compromised by their relationships with CCA.
