Any companies vying for federal government contracts better get their cybersecurity plans in check. According to Venable LLP’s Rebecca Pearson, William Walsh and Keir Bancroft on Lexology, a joint working group between the Department of Defense and General Services Administration has made the following recommendations to the White House on how to implement cybersecurity with relation to federal contractors:

Baseline Cybersecurity

The group has established “the government should only do business with organizations meeting baseline cybersecurity hygiene requirements” which apply to both the contractor and its products and services. The baseline requirements include: updated virus protections, multiple factor logical access, data confidentiality and the maintenance of current security software patches.
