Gilbert + Tobin Adding Two New Partners
Gilbert + Tobin is adding new partners in Sydney and Perth.
Former Herbert Smith Freehills partner Justin Little will join the firm’s energy and resources practice in Perth, while former Griffith Hack partner John Lee is moving over to Gilbert + Tobin’s intellectual property team in Sydney.*
Lee is expected to start early next year, according to a Gilbert + Tobin statement, although no start date was given for Little. A firm spokesman could not be reached for comment.
Little is an energy and resources lawyer who was head of Herbert Smith Freehills’ mining team in Perth. He has advised clients such as Newmont Mining Corp., Rio Tinto Ltd., and BHP Billiton Ltd. on mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, and handled other related corporate and financing matters for clients as well. He had been with the firm for 15 years, and became a partner in 2008.
Lee specializes in contentious and commercial IP matters in multiple industries, including life sciences, resources and information technology. He also acts for clients in patent and trademark litigation. He joined Griffith Hack as a partner in 2006 and before that worked at the former Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
Gilbert + Tobin has over 300 lawyers in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
