Ropes & Gray Relocates M&A Co-Head to Hong Kong
Ropes & Gray has relocated James Lidbury, the co-head of its global mergers and acquisitions practice, from Chicago to Hong Kong.
Lidbury specializes in M&A and private equity transactions and has spent the past year focusing on Asia deals. In October, he advised a consortium led by Blackstone Group in its $625 million take-private acquisition of Nasdaq-listed Chinese technology company Pactera Technology International Ltd.
He became the firm’s global M&A co-head in 2012 and has also served as managing partner of Ropes & Gray’s Chicago office since its 2008 launch. Lidbury joined Ropes & Gray with two other partners from Mayer Brown, where he had been a partner for 14 years. Earlier in his career, he was an attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.
Boston-based Ropes & Gray has around 30 lawyers in its four Asia offices: Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul. Globally, the firm has 1,008 lawyers working in 11 offices.
