Nagashima Ohno Brings Aboard Restructuring Partner
Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu has recruited a senior restructuring lawyer.
Nobuaki Kobayashi will join the Tokyo firm on Oct. 1 from Kobayashi & Associates, the firm he co-founded with his brother in 2000. The brother, Hideaki Kobyashi, also joined Nagashima Ohno as a corporate partner in April.
Frequently named the trustee in large-scale insolvencies, Nobuaki Kobayashi served in that role last year in the $5.6 billion bankruptcy of chipmaker Elpida Memory Inc. He also frequently advises businesses on debt workouts, and also represents creditors and sponsors.
With his departure, the Kobyashi firm will close its doors.
One of Tokyo’s Big Four corporate law firms, Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu has 330 lawyers in offices in Tokyo, Singapore, and New York.
