Porter Wright is representing former Chicago comptroller Amer Ahmad, who pleaded not guilty earlier this week to federal charges stemming from an alleged kickback scheme between 2009 and 2011. Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Mayer Brown—which vetted Ahmad on behalf of the mayor in 2011—have come under fire for ignoring the appointee's supposed red flags. Drinker Biddle, meanwhile, has been hired to conduct a financial audit of the city's finances during Ahmad's tenure.
