The NYU Law & Medical School leadership continue to voice full confidence in the NYU Trustee & President Sexton Plan to destroy parks, gardens, children's playgrounds and dog run in the heart of historic Greenwich Village for new administration and commercial skyscrapers - a plan that threatens the ecology and health of the residents & businesses in the neighborhood for at least the next 20 years as well as destroying the unique historic character of Greenwich Village in NYC.

It is also noteworthy that the NYU Trustees, President, Law, Medical, Science and other NYU schools and departments have not taken an active role in pursuing the causes and effects of the 911 Terrorist attacks at the NYC World Trade Center - an attack that has led to the trashing of the US Constitution, UN Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights - and the deaths & injuries of millions of people since then.

Could the effect of the 911Terrorist attacks have also corrupted our legal, medical and public education systems through a silent endorsement of an immoral and illegal Terrorist War on Terrorism and the censorship of war crimes?

Does NYU as a bonafide "higher education" institution have an obligation to uphold the rule of law that has lead to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?

Anyone who wants to understand exactly how NYU works, should study the case of the blogger who sent out "Gmail confessions" in which the chairman of the university's Jewish Studies department appeared to be accusing himself of plagiarism. An Israeli journalist had accused the chairman of plagiarism in 1993, but the charges were never investigated at NYU.

The author of the "confessions" was arrested and prosecuted for "identity theft," "harassment," and other crimes of the sort, pursuant to a complaint filed by the NYU department chairman with the FBI and the Manhattan D.A. At the trial, the prosecution was allowed to argue that the defendant made "false accusations," but the defendant was blocked from introducing any evidence that his accusations were true, because "neither good faith nor truth is a defense to any of the crimes charged." (Needless to say, the case was assigned to the criminal court judge who presided over it at the specific request of the prosecutors, in violation of the court's own rules.)

NYU deans testified at the trial that they had decided not to investigate the "false accusations" because the chairman had a "reputation for honesty." The chairman himself testified that "nobody reads" the faculty code of conduct at NYU, and that he had no idea how the code defines plagiarism. He also testified that no harm whatsoever was done to him by the fake confessions.

Soon after the trial, a "confidential letter" the chairman had sent to the deans (repeatedly denying that he had ever been accused of plagiarism by the Israeli journalist) became a public document; six weeks later, right in the middle of the academic year, the chairman suddenly resigned from his NYU professorship and moved to Yeshiva University, where he remains the vice provost of undergraduate studies to this day.

Meanwhile, the "criminal" case is awaiting review by the New York Court of Appeals in Albany. If the judgment is affirmed, the author of the fake "confessions" will be incarcerated for six months. A British law professor has commented that "to jail a man for this kind of incident is perfectly ludicrous," but not a single member of the NYU faculty has publicly commented on it the matter in any way -- a fact that does nothing to encourage respect for the same body that is finally seeking to oust Lipton and Sexton after years of damage to the humanities done by their policies.
