New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene inspected some 24,000 eating establishments in the past year, including 25 cafeterias at Am Law 200 firms. While the legal lunchrooms generally got good grades for cleanliness, four firms, listed below, fell short of an “A” rating. Virtually all such cafeterias are run by outside food vendors; Cravath’s and Davis Polk’s, for instance, are operated by food services company Flik International. Via a spokeswoman, Flik says it is contesting the findings at Cravath, resulting in a “Grade Pending” notation. Cadwalader, which also received a “Grade Pending,” noted that its food vendor has consistently gotten top grades in the past and that it expects any problems to be immediately corrected. Davis Polk and White & Case declined to comment. What inspectors found in these plush precincts, however, isn’t pretty reading. —Julie Triedman
