It’s time to make those New Year’s resolutions, when waistbands are tight, wallets are empty and even a dry martini has lost its appeal. Some people vow to slash carbs. Others promise to read that copy of “Moby-Dick” taking up space on the bookshelf. Come April, however, most of those pledges are distant memories, and no one’s called anybody Ishmael. But there are exceptions.

We asked some top lawyers and legal pros to share their New Year’s resolutions. Turns out, they’re earnest about their plans, intending to improve their performances and the profession and to uphold the Rule of Law, as 2017 ushers in President Donald Trump.
