A slowdown in demand in early 2013, combined with an expansion in international offices, led to a 3.5 percent decline in gross revenue in 2013 and a 9.8 percent dip in profits per partner for Houston’s Andrews Kurth. Revenue per lawyer was flat, at $820,000.

Managing partner Robert Jewell says he wasn’t surprised by the results. “We anticipated a slowdown in demand,” he says. “We also took advantage of some investment opportunities during the year.”
