Investors would love a crystal ball to tell them what companies will be next on Warren Buffett’s M&A shopping list. But anyone can forecast which law firm will be advising when Buffett’s holding company, Berkshire Hathaway, goes on the prowl.

Berkshire-related transactions have been fueling the corporate practice at Munger, Tolles & Olson for decades, thanks at least in part to Buffett’s close, continuing association with Charles Munger. Sure enough, when Berkshire said Monday that it would acquire Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) for a whopping $37.2 billion, the announcement named Munger Tolles as legal adviser.
