Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has continued to develop its London transactional practice with the addition of another senior partner, bringing in renowned leveraged finance expert A. Stephen Gillespie from Kirkland & Ellis. Gillespie’s arrival follows that of former Ashurst senior partner and private equity specialist Charlie Geffen, who joined Gibson Dunn in November alongside one of Ashurst’s top-billing corporate partners, Mark Sperotto.

Speaking to The American Lawyer over breakfast in November, private equity specialist Geffen, who took a six-month sabbatical before joining Gibson Dunn after being removed from his leadership position at Ashurst following a contested election, admitted that his new firm’s transactional practice has been underweight in London.
