Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said in court papers filed Monday that he had no hand in crafting controversial executive orders from the Trump administration banning travel from Muslim-majority countries and that he has not served on a commission related to such orders.

Giuliani’s latest statements, submitted in response to questions from a federal judge presiding over a criminal case in which the former mayor is part of the legal team, appear inconsistent with comments that he made publicly a few months ago, the day after President Donald Trump signed his first executive order to restrict entry into the country.
